Therapeutic Process
Counselling can have both benefits and risks. It’s important to understand that therapy often requires you to share about unpleasant, challenging, or distressing aspects of your life, and at times, this may result in experiencing uncomfortable feelings such as sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger and frustration. However, my job as a counsellor is to choose techniques that are appropriate to carefully navigate difficult feelings, should they arise. That said, counselling could benefit you if you have a willingness to face challenges; and it’s often the case that healing takes place as a result of committing to the therapeutic process.
I acknowledge your courage in seeking support through counselling and desiring to change. I’m passionate about creating a safe space in which counselling can occur and offering professional caring non-judgmental support. You may find that through therapy, you will see improvements in your life as a result of discovering solutions to problems, better interpersonal relationships, and a reduction in distress. If you are not necessarily facing distress, but are looking to make some positive changes, you likely may find counselling is helpful for this too!
